A reminder that there is still good in the world

AT a time when our newsfeeds are full of heartbreaking news, this image comes as a welcome ray of sunshine.
When Kenyatta Lewis walked past a crying homeless man recently, she could never have guessed how tragic and desperate his situation was.
The man’s trailer had burnt down, taking everything he had — including his wife.
In fact, Kenyatta would never have learned this about him if not for the open-heartedness of her six-year-old daughter, Janiyah.
The mum shared on Facebook how her daughter had asked her, “Did you see that man crying? What’s wrong with him? … Maybe he’s hot and thirsty?”
Without hesitation, Janiyah then walked over to the man. “Hi sir be happy. It’s a nice day it’s not raining. Are you hot?” she asked him. “Why don’t you go home. The ground is dirty?”
When the man explained to her that he had no home, the six-year-old’s face was taken over by sadness. But instead of getting awkward, she carried on, “So that means you’re homeless. So you have no food because you have no refrigerator.”
The six year old then fishes out a few dollars from her own purse, saying, “Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald’s you should go there.”
To make the whole thing even more touching, the actions of a six year old then inspired two other strangers to come forward and give the man money.
Kenyatta closes her post with this observation:
“Kids see no colour and that’s exactly how it should be. It’s not just a statement saying that the children are our future, it’s a FACT. That gives me a little more hope for the world.”

The Facebook post has now been shared nearly 187,000 times.
According to Today, the situation inspired little Janiyah to set up a GoFundMecampaign so she’d be able to help more people in need in her community. With the money she raises, she hopes to buy food and clothing for those less fortunate
